Team History
The Montclair Geese was founded in 2014 as a non-competitive club. In spring of 2017, the Geese became a competitive team, ultimately placing 15th at states. In 2018, the team grew to about 20 players and placed 7th at States. In 2019, the team placed 3rd at states. After the 2020 spring season was cancelled due to COVID19, the Geese came back strong in 2021 and placed 5th at states. In the 2022 season the program doubled in size, created a JV and Varsity team. The Varsity team won the Born to Dive 2022 Tournament and placed 3rd at States. In 2023, Montclair Geese Varsity won Halloween Havoc ,Spring Fling, and took home their first State Championship! After such a successful season, the Geese were invited to the High School National Invite and placed 10th, breaking seed and securing a national ranking. Since then, they've continued to play competitively and secure more tournament wins and another State Championship. From the beginning, we have been a student-run, student-coached team. Through this structure, we have built an extensive community of players and alumni with a shared passion for Ultimate and Spirit of the Game.
Our Philosophy
We believe that the players should coach and run themselves. This student-coached, student-run model allows players to take on leadership positions, keep each other accountable, and have input into all aspects of the team.
Our Goal
Our goal is to provide an inclusive, productive, and positive environment for players of all skill levels to play Ultimate. We focus on fostering a focused, fun, intense, and committed team, creating a competitive, constructive, self-run team.
